Ayia Napa in Cyprus

Ayia Napa

Ayia Napa, the tourist paradise of Cyprus, with its lovely golden beaches, clear sea waters, wonderful dreamy nights and its pleasant and warm-hearted inhabitants has maintained a simplicity of life which is in full accord with the historic traditions of Cyprus.

Ayia Napa, meaning "Holy Forest ". It exudes a friendly, holiday air and delightfully relaxed ambience with its colourful shops, taverns, discos, bars and superb hotels. It 'is dominated by the medieval decorated monastery with central octagonal fountain.

You could see also the Macronissos tombs. The site consists of 19 rock - cut tombs, a small sanctuary and an ancient quarry situated west of Ayia Napa in the Macronissos area.

A small Marine Life Museum presents exhibits of past and present marine fauna. The focal point of the resort is the small harbour, where the taverns specialise in fresh fish harvested by the colourful fishing vessels.

Life in the south-eastern corner mostly revolves around the sea, and water sports of all kinds are readily enjoyed from scuba diving to paragliding.

Its superb golden sandy beaches make this area a big draw for sun seekers. But this part of Cyprus traditionally remains the market garden of Cyprus, with the well-known Cyprus potato being the prominent crop.

Protaras, the tourist area of Paralimni, is just one hour's drive from Larnaca International Airport on the Southeast coast of Cyprus. Here in this idyllic resort one can find golden sandy beaches and rugged cliffs complimenting the tiny bays while overlooking the brilliance of the early morning sun as it slowly rises above the horizon, as if emerging from the crystal-clear waters of the sparkling blue-green Mediterranean.
