DAY 1 : ARRIVAL IN CYPRUS
Arrival at Larnaca airport. Transfer, check in, dinner, overnight in Limassol.
DAY 2 : LIMASSOL CITY AND COUNTRYSIDE In the morning, visit of the old town of Limassol: The Castle and the Medieval Museum of Cyprus. Then, you will go to the Kolossi Castle followed by a stop at the Museum of Cypriot Wine and Vine of Erimi to taste local wines and delicacies. Lunch during the excursion then continuation towards the small village of Agros for the visit of “Niki Sweets”, a local factory specialized in the production of traditional Cypriot desserts (fruit in syrup, jams, soutzoukos) as well as the local distillery of roses. The rose water being another very emblematic product in Cyprus serving between others as an ingredient of the famous Maxalepi (dessert). Dinner at your hotel and overnight in Limassol.
DAY 3 : VISIT OF THE SMALL MOUNTAIN VILLAGES
In Anogyra, the visit of the local farm will teach you all there is to know about the making of two of the most typical cheeses of the island: The Halloumi and the Anari. After a short walk in the village, stop at the Museum of the Carob and the Pasteli and its factory. The carob tree, very typical of the region, and all the products resulting from its exploitation helped, in the old days, to the prosperity of the island. Do not miss the opportunity to taste the pasteli, a very traditional sweet. The olive tree is also present everywhere on the island. That is why a visit to the Park Oleastro is a must. Take the time to walk around and enjoy the Mediterranean emanations, after the guided tour of the Park. At midday, we climb up to the village of Vouni for a well-deserved meal and, on the way back, we will stop in Koilani to visit a beautiful cellar and learn all about the culture of one of the oldest wine in the world. This Cypriot wine, called “Commandaria” was already famous in the Antiquity and the knights of Richard Lionheart relaunched its production during the Middle Age period. DAY 4 : VISIT PAPHOS AND YEROSKIPOU
Start the day with the visit of the Houses of Dionysus, Theseus and Aion. Located on the archaeological site of Kato Paphos (a classified World Heritage Site of UNESCO), these Roman villas are very well known in the Mediterranean for their remarkable mosaics. Next visit: The Arts, Craft and Traditional Cypriot Products Center called “The Place”. Then head for the village of Yeroskipou, the local capital for the production of Cyprus delights, also nicknamed the “Garden of Aphrodite” who was, as the legend says, fond of this oriental sweetmeat. The visit of the little family factory will be followed by a tasting. Lunch back at the hotel. Spend the afternoon at leisure. Dinner and overnight at your hotel (in Paphos).
DAY 5 : PAPHOS HINTERLAND
Departure from Paphos towards the village of Letymbou and the traditional House of Sofia and Andreas. You will have the opportunity to observe and more importantly to help the family to prepare a traditional Cypriot meal consisting of homemade bread and fresh cheese, olive pies, Ressi (a dish made from wheat and lamb pilaf, formerly served for all the big family celebrations such as Weddings) and Loukoumades (little honey donuts) for dessert. Continuation to the area of Vouni-Panayia, at more than 1000m of altitude, where is located the Wine property of the Kyriakides family. Sheltered in a charming traditional house renovated with care for the sake of historical restitution, this cellar seems to be frozen in time with its decoration consisting exclusively of old objects. If the group wants it, tasting of the different sweet wines and liqueurs produced locally. The last stop of this day will be the village of Kathikas to visit the Vasilikon Wine Estate; modern winery complex consisting of a winery, a wine bar, an oenology museum and an art gallery. DAY 6 : DAY AT LEISURE AND FOLKLORIC EVENING
Spend your day at laisure and enjoy a folkloric evening.
Your evening will take place in a friendly tavern where you will taste a real “Mezze”, a meal consisting of a multitude of small traditional local dishes. An entertainment program with music and dance will allow you to discover the Cypriot folklore and let yourself be carried away by the spirit of the party, which is summed up here by the expression ” Kopiaste “: Sit down and make yourself at home! DAY 7 : VISIT OF THE INLAND REGION OF LARNACA
Departure for the village of Skarinou where you will visit the Georgiadi Domain: After a Donkey ride, you will be able to participate in a demonstration of the old Olive Press and enjoy a Cypriot coffee prepared by you and accompanied as usual with olives bread, halloumi and olive fruits produced locally. Then, discover the charming village of Lefkara, famous for its goldsmith work and its lace artwork of whom even Leonardo Da Vinci was an admirer. Return to Larnaca and visit of the Tekke Hala Sultan Mosque on the banks of the salted lake (the fourth holy place for the Muslim religion) and the Saint Lazare Church built on the very tomb of the Saint in the old center of the city. DAY 8 : RETURN
Transfer from the hotel to Larnaca airport and return flight
